the 3rd Annual Holiday House Decorating Contest
T’is the season of sparkle, lights and decorations!
Nominate your own home or someone else’s for this contest.
Participation is open to all residents within the boundaries of the Town and Village of Goshen.
Entry is free, no cost or fees apply.
Employees of the Village or Town of Goshen are not eligible to participate.
Decorating must not be done or assisted by a professional decorating company.
Registration/nomination must be complete no later than midnight on Sunday, December 18, 2016.
Nominate a neighbor by sending the address and which category you think fits best via email to lisa@goshenrecreation.com.
Contest is for exterior decorations only, including decorations in windows that are visible from the exterior. Judging will be done from outside the residence only.
Judging will be based on “curb appeal” as viewed from the street only. Therefore only those decorations located on the street side of the property will be judged (corner lots will be judged from both streets). Judges will not enter the property to view back or side yards.
Participants agree to have one or more photos of their decorated residence exterior posted on the Goshen Parks & Recreation website, Facebook page and/or published in the Indy newspaper. Participants agree there will be no compensation of any kind for said posting or publication.
Judging will be done on Tuesday evening, December 20, between 7:00pm and 9:00pm.
Participants should ensure that all lights, animations and decorations are in place and activated for the judging period.
Signs will be placed on the lawns of the winning homes the evening of the judging. Winners will be notified by phone and announced on our website and Facebook page on Wednesday, December 21.
One prize will be awarded per category: prizes will be valued at $50 each.
The category you select will be used as a guide only. Please note that the judges will ultimately decide which category best fits the home display being considered. In addition, the judges reserve the right to eliminate or add categories based on the entries received.
You may register for one of the following categories:
Clark Griswold – Excessive use of outdoor lighting and decorations. If the electric company loves you during the holidays this category is for you!
Norman Rockwell – A classic, old fashioned and nostalgic holiday display.
Theme – Pick what you love most about the season and run with it! Disney characters, North Pole, candy canes, Santas, snowmen, gingerbread house, religious, etc.
