2018 Summer Day Camp Week 1 (6/25 - 6/29)

The summer day camp is a program run by the Goshen Parks & Recreation Commission, which is funded by the Town and Village of Goshen and program fees.  The Goshen Recreation summer day camp is all about having fun! Campers have the opportunity to explore nature, find new talents and make lasting friendships and memories. As a participant in our camp, your child will be positively impacted by fun activities and caring staff. Our counselors are dedicated to ensuring a safe atmosphere while making sure the children enjoy themselves to the fullest extent. The campers are grouped by grade and stay with their group as they rotate through the daily activities. The daily itinerary is divided into 6 activities, including lunch.  The campers will have fun playing various games, creating arts & crafts, participating in water fun, field trips and shows that we bring to the camp.  You can choose a 5 hour day or a 8 hour day for your child. While the daily schedule remains the same, each day has a different twist to keep our campers entertained and interested.

Our camp is located at Myron Urbanski Memorial Park (Craigville Park).  Having camp at the park allows us the opportunity to have more nature related activities, water sprinklers for those hot days, use of the ball fields, playground and more!

Camp Weather Policy:  Camp will be held rain or shine.  We will have the pavilion and other shelter available to us.

In case of severe weather, parents/guardians will be notified by email, text and Facebook that campers must be picked up immediately.  If you will not be in the area during camp hours please be sure to have someone available to pick up your child in case of an early closing. A plan B is always a good idea!

WEEK 1
Monday, June 25 – Counselor Truth or Dare - Get to know your counselors by asking questions and challenging them to silly dares!  
Tuesday, June 26 - Silly Hat Day – Wear the silliest hat you own!  There will be prizes!
Wednesday, June 27 –  Wet & Wild Wednesday - bring a bathing suit to change into or a full change of clothing!  Remember to bring a towel!  Water shoes are always a good idea!
Thursday, June 28 – Animal Day & Bicycle Day – Dress like your favorite animal!  Bring your bicycle to camp and ride around with your friends!
Friday, June 29 - Carnival Day – Games and prizes for everyone!


The Goshen Parks & Recreation day camp is permitted to operate by the Orange County Department of Health and is required to be inspected twice yearly.  Inspection reports may be obtained at 124 Main St, Goshen, NY.

General Notes
  • To be eligible for the Goshen resident fee, you must offer proof that you pay Property Tax to either the Village or Town of Goshen. Not School Tax.
  • A current immunization record is required BEFORE your child may attend camp and can be faxed to 845-294-1276. This record must state immunization dates against diphtheria, haemophilus influenza type B, hepatitis B, measles, mumps, poliomyelitis, rubella, tetanus and varicella (chicken pox) and will be kept on file for every camper and updated annually.
  • Please make sure you have filled out/updated the medical portion of your child's household's account with information concerning any allergies or medical issues.
  • Administration of medicines - All campers' medication (prescription or non-prescription) must be accompanied by a patient-specific written order from a licensed prescriber. Pharmacy labeling on the medication is NOT sufficient for this purpose as the medication, dosage and or regimen may have changed since the pharmacy filled the prescription.
  • Medications will be transported daily to and from camp. Parents/guardians should request that the pharmacy provide two containers, one to remain at home and one to bring to camp just in case the camper forgets to bring the medication home.
  • Repackaging or relabeling of prescription medications is prohibited. All prescription medication must be in their original container with labeling that includes but is not limited to 1) complete name of patient, 2) date prescription filled, 3) expiration date, 4)directions for use, precautions and storage, 5) dispensing pharmacy name and address, 6) name of physician prescribing medication.
  • You may choose a 5 or 7 hour day option of camp.
  • Morning drop off begins at 8:50. Sign in will not begin before 8:50 because our counselors will be busy setting up camp activities for the day.
